A CONVERSATION, AT YOUR PACE

Chat with strangers. Start with a hello.

Meet new people in a city room without turning on your microphone. Vennelo combines live group voice with text chat, so you can listen, type or do both.

How to join a group text chat

  1. Choose a city or a live room. Look for people already talking, or enter a city’s Local Lounge or Ask a Local room. A room can be quiet until someone joins.
  2. Join with a nickname. Confirm that you are 18 or older and agree to the community rules. No email signup is required. People may choose any city; their location is not verified.
  3. Open Chat and introduce yourself. Your microphone starts off. Use the Chat button to write a message while listening, or stay muted for the whole conversation.

Chat is shared with everyone in the room. Vennelo does not provide private one-to-one messaging or random stranger matching.

More than a plain text box

Emojis and reactions

Add an emoji to a message, or send a quick room reaction with your name. A typing indicator lets the group know when someone is writing.

Photos you choose to send

Attach a photo, preview it and press Send when ready. Choose Normal or View once. A view-once photo gives each eligible recipient one open; closing prevents reopening. Screenshots remain possible.

A chat that fits the conversation

Open or close chat without leaving the room. An unread badge shows when messages arrive while chat is closed. You can delete your own text and photo messages.

What can you say to someone new?

Invite answers rather than asking for personal information. Short introductions work well in group chats; give other people room to reply.

Know who can read your messages

Current room members can see the shared chat. New arrivals cannot read messages sent before their visit. Messages and shared images expire after two hours. This is a public group conversation, so avoid passwords, addresses and other private details.

A guest profile stays in your browser for seven days. You can change its name and appearance in Profile. If you create a recovery phrase, keep it secret: it can restore access to that profile.

Questions about chatting with strangers

Can I chat without speaking?

Yes. Keep your mic off and use room text chat. If you do not want to hear a particular person, you can mute them for yourself.

Is it free?

Yes, joining Vennelo’s group rooms and using voice or text chat is free. Room and platform capacity limits can apply.

Can I choose who I chat with?

You choose a room and its city. It is a group setting with up to ten members, not a private match or a gender-filtered chat.

What if someone is disruptive?

Mute them for yourself, report them from their participant menu, or start a room removal vote. Hosts can also move people to listening only.
